Collaborating thru Chronic Conditions…Enhancing Wellness & Productivity

Our Guidelines for Collaboration

Many of our valued employees do their jobs while wrestling with chronic illnesses and conditions. As part of our broader commitment to the wellness of all of our people, we are launching this collaborative initiative.

Our goal: a healthier workforce in a more productive workplace. Our means: all of us working together, building skills and practices that strengthen our teams and outcomes.

This site offers guidance to key stakeholders on how to effectively work thru a range of chronic conditions:

COMMITMENTS  Our Leader Message demonstrates the company’s commitment to this approach; the Framework lays out its essential elements; and the Principles define the core values that drive our performance in this area.

COMPETENCIES  Many factors strengthen long-term collaboration as we enable our employees to manage ongoing health conditions. The standards and practices of Mutual Respect lay the groundwork for clear communication and healthy negotiation. Mastery of scheduling Flexibility helps managers and employees adjust to changing schedules. Skill Redesigning Work builds productivity as presence ebbs and flows.

COLLABORATORS  Values and competencies overlap for the primary stakeholders. But their roles and key practices differ strongly. Managers have the lead role to play in maximizing both employee satisfaction and productivity. Human Resources align role, policies and resources to strengthen manager and employee effectiveness over the long term. Employees are the crucial drivers of healthy working relationships over time, and they need distinct skills to prosper. Properly engaged Caregivers play a valuable role in better integrating maximum health and productivity.

CONDITIONS  The nature and demands of many chronic conditions are both similar and distinct. The most common conditions in our workforce are addressed in this section. The segments on each condition cover at least the following:

1. Profile of the condition, its evolution, its impact on work and proven supports
2. Resources offering in-depth information and external links on the condition
3. Guidance on which competencies will best improve collaboration and outcomes
